Is Atlanta CityPASS Worth It?

Are you wondering if it’s worth it to buy an Atlanta CityPASS? Read more for my take.

The Atlanta CityPASS gives you access to five of the top attractions in Atlanta – the Georgia Aquarium, the World of Coca-Cola, the College Football Hall of Fame, Fernbank Museum of Natural History, Zoo Atlanta and the National Center for Civil and Human Rights

The World of Coca-Cola is a favorite tourist spot on the CityPASS.

If you looked at that list, you’ll see that is MORE than five attractions! That’s because some of those are choices – you can choose EITHER the College Football Hall of Fame OR Fernbank; Zoo Atlanta or the National Center for Civil and Human Rights. So in total, you get to see five attractions. (You can see five attractions and stay just in the downtown area: Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, College Football Hall of Fame, and  National Center for Civil and Human Rights.)

So let’s look at the math. A CityPASS for adults is $77 and $63 for children. Regular adult admission to five attractions costs from about $117 to $128 (the Hall of Fame is slightly less than Fernbank, for example). So you can save from $40 to $51 off regular adult prices. You save slightly less on regular kids’ admission prices but that’s the benchmark.

The advantages of the Atlanta CityPASS go beyond money savings. It’s a one-tine purchase and you can use it in any order over a 30-day period. You can print a ticket or use your smartphone, so you always have it with you, so it’s extremely convenient.

That said, there are some things to consider. You can frequently buy discounted tickets for attractions elsewhere. For example, you can usually get tickets to the College Football Hall of Fame on Groupon – currently they are selling a four-pack of tickets with a parking pass for $70 which is nearly half the regular price of admission.

The Georgia Aquarium has discounted admission times, listed on its website, including discounts for military members and free admission on your birthday!

The wall of helmets in the College Football Hall of Fame is a favorite spot in the attraction.

What’s more, you need to want to go to these attractions. I have been to all, of course, and they are all wonderful. But both the Zoo and Fernbank are in other parts of the city so you need to account for getting there (of course the Zoo has pandas so it’s well worth it).

In fact, you may want to ONLY go to the Aquarium and the Zoo – and there’s a ticket of $40 for just those two places, available on the Aquarium’s website.

Do not miss the pandas at Zoo Atlanta!

So the answer is yes, the Atlanta CityPASS is definitely a deal and it’s well worth it if you plan on visiting at least three of those places. And the convenience alone makes it very attractive. Otherwise, take into account which places you really want to visit and see if you can get discounts through the direct sites or Groupon.
